I live near the north Essex coast with my husband and our cat. I love being outside in nature and find life endlessly fascinating and moving. 

After working for many years as a self-taught freelance writer, in 2022 I graduated with a first-class BA in Creative Writing from the University of Essex. In 2023, I earned a distinction in MA Wild Writing, also at Essex, with my collection of essays and poems titled Inundation - now available in print and on kindle. 

You can find me on Instagram @velvet_atoms, where I mostly post pictures from my walks or from my wild garden, but also the occasional poem, folklore fact, or personal anecdote about living with Autism (ASD/Asperger's).
